Our route
Our trip starts and ends in Windhoek, with a clockwise loop of the North West of Namibia taking in some of the famous landmarks.

We begin with a night in Windhoek to recover after the flights, then collect the 4x4 and head south-west towards Namibgrens and Sesriem. That first stretch takes us into the Namib desert. We are hoping for dark skies and views of the Milky Way. From there we will spend time around Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, to watch the sunrise over the famous sand dunes.
After the desert, the route heads north-west to the coast and a change of scene in Swakopmund.
From Swakopmund we continue via Cape Cross and Spitzkoppe, then into Damaraland for rock formations, desert-adapted wildlife, and some of the most remote-looking scenery on the route.
Next comes Etosha, a national park on an enormous salt pan three times the size of Greater London where we hope to see elephants, giraffes, zebrs and plenty of antelope.
After Etosha, we continue south through Waterberg and Mount Etjo before returning to Windhoek.
Once the Namibia road trip loop is complete, we fly on to Cape Town for a few days under a solid roof for some R&R before heading home.
We pan on updating this site regularly to journal our adventure!
