A day in Swakopmund

Restocking the fridge and some cool experiences.

both Louise and I took advantage of lion free routes and went for a run first thing. Then we headed to the supermarket to restock (it wasn’t quite as well sticked as the one in Windhoek). After that we headed back, got the third load of washing on, and decided to see if we could find an adventure.

We found Desert Adventures who offered several activities including sand boarding, camel riding, and most excitingly (for me at least) a quad bikiing safari across the sand dunes. We opted for quad biking, signed the waiver and got kitted up.

Last itme we quad biked as a family was in Wales, and Mima must have been about 8 years old. She struggled that time, but pleased to say this time she handled the quad with no problems. Edie went out first behind the guide and was itching to go as fast as possible. Then Mima, Isla, Louise and I was at the back. It was great fun - reaching speeds of 40+ kph across full on desert sand dunes.

in the evening, we headed to Tiger Reef, recomended as a “must visit” by Pedley (our original inspiration for coming to Namibia). it was a cool beach bar only a few hundred metres from our apartment, with plenty of feston lighting. We tucked into some freshly caught fish (and various other not-so-local delicacies for the girls) then headed back for another decent night of sleep.
