Back to Windhoek

The last full day in Namibia.

Back to Windhoek

Another night with the crazy quaking duck. Luckily this time I was armed with ear plugs (lucky for the duck, as otherwise it was going to get a beating from my selfie stick!).

Not a lot to report on during the day - the journey to Windhoek was uneventful. We travelled to our next destination, Urban Camp, via the place we stayed on the first night (Arebbusch Travel Lodge), as Edie had left Owly there and they had found her and agreed to keep hold until our return!

Urban Camp pool area

We got to Urban Camp, not expecting much from a campsite in the middle of a capital city, but once again we were presented with an oasis in the middle of a concrete jungle! A lovely little restaurant/bar area around a pool, and a camping spot complete with covered seating area and braai pit a short walk away.

Joe's Beerhouse

We set up camp, used the last of our bread and jam, peanut butter and chocolate spread, for an unhealthy jam sandwich lunch! We then headed to the pool for some chill time. We ordered some drinks and chips to supplement the rest of our healthy meal, but it was late in the lunch service and they had run out of chips so they substituted for some delicious fried potatoes with bacon, garlic and onion, which were delicious!

Namibian Sunset jam jar

The last destination we had been recommended in Windhoek was Joe’s Beerhouse, a legendary establishment just 10 minutes walk from our camp (the reason we had selected that campsite). We had made a reservation there and headed over to find a delightful, quirky drinking hole and restaurant.

We ordered some mocktails and cocktails (frozen strawberry daiquiris for the girls, and a Namibian Sunset in an enormous jam jar for me - picture next to Mima’s head for scale!)

Another hefty feed later, and we headed back to camp for our last night under canvas and last night in Namibia 😭.
